How do I know if my modem/router has a battery and how do I power cycle it if it does?
You will know that your modem/router has a battery backup if you unplug the power from the modem/router and the power light stays on or flashes. Usually the battery is located at the side of the modem/router.
To power cycle the modem/router properly you will first need to unplug only the power from only the modem/router from the back of the modem/router and then remove the battery.
Then, wait 20 seconds
Then, put the battery back in and then plug the power in.
If you plug the power in before putting in the battery you may fry your modem/router.
Then wait for the modem/router to fully boot up, this takes 3 to 5 minutes
